Don James previously managed that program for General Dynamics IT. The VA WiFi program deployed more than 117,000 APs to cover almost 120 Million sq ft of VA space at 176 VA facilities. Don has over 30 years of experience with technically challenging IT and management assignments. His experience began conducting weapons system testing for ballistic missile submarines, progressed through managing internal IT support services, managed the deployment of network and system upgrades at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (now DHS, was USDA) to the manager and technical lead for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) HQ Relocation Project which entailed deploying 4000 Cisco VoIP phones 8500 network connections and 49 Cisco 6509s and the move of 4000 employees from Crystal City to the Washington Navy Yard. This was followed by managing the relocation of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) satellite operations to the new NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) followed by the design, build-out and operation of a Corrections Surveillance Center for the DC Department of Corrections.
